Pain
Blocking Pain Tricyclic drugs such as Amytryptilene are used to increase the natural effects of serotonin in FMs. This helps to block the pain at the A-δ gateway, that is, they work in a similar way as the body's natural painkillers. Aerobic exercise and NSAIDs - anti-inflammatory drugs - help to switch off the pain at the A-β gateway. Thay do this by stopping the amplifying cycle of pain.
